Tips and Tricks with Essential Oils!! Dryer Balls Instead of Toxic Dryer Sheets or Fabric Softener

Everyone knows by now how incredibly toxic dryer sheets and fabric softeners are. The chemicals are designed to coat fabric fibers that rub on our skin all day from our clothes and all night from our sheets. These chemicals are small enough to absorb into our bloodstream!

Bad news!

Dryer balls soften clothes without adding toxic chemicals. They reduce dry time to save energy. You can get them anywhere - mine are from Friendsheep Wool because penguins are fun! Make sure you get 100% organic wool UNSCENTED!!! The vague word "fragrance" contains a list of toxins like carcinogens, hormone-disruptors, allergens, etc.

Tip: If your clothes have static, then you're drying them WAY too long. You can also attach safety pins to reduce static. (I gave my penguins safety pin wings.)

Tip: Add essential oils like Wintergreen, Peppermint, Lemongrass, Purification or Citrus Fresh to the dryer balls with each load. For a stronger scent, add the oils during the last 10 minutes of drying

Hack: YL's Seedlings Baby Wipes make great dryer sheets and smell sooooo good. Switching to dryer balls is one of the easiest things you can do to improve your health!

Tips and Tricks with Essential Oils!! Peppermint Brownies

Want to be the hit at the party? Add 5-8 drops of Peppermint Vitality* to your brownie mix for Peppermint Brownies. We make these constantly - yum!

Do not ingest other oil brands. Even if the plants are natural and organic, if they are not distilled or bottled under food-safe conditions, they're NOT safe to ingest! My cat eats "pure and natural" salmon, but that does not mean it's safe for people.

Young Living's oils are made under sanitary conditions!

TMI Tip: If you eat too many brownies, a few drops of Peppermint in the toilet bowl before you sit can help things, um, come out a little easier...

Hack: Young Living's Vitality oils come from the exact same farm, crop, and distillation vat as the regular oils. They are just labeled differently so you'll know which oils are beneficial to ingest I buy the regular 15ml size because it's cheaper price-per-drop and the exact same thing. For example 15ml Peppermint is filed with the same product as 5ml Peppermint Vitality. The 15ml Lemon is filled with the exact same oil that's in Lemon Vitality.

FYI, a 5ml bottle holds 90-100 drops and a 15ml bottle holds about 250-300 drops, depending on how thick or thin the drop is based on the viscosity of the oil. Peppermint is a super thin oil, so there are more drops in the bottle. Vetiver is a very thick oil, so each drop is bigger than a drop of Peppermint.

Tips and Tricks with Essential Oils!! Thick Oils and Dropper Tops

Ain’t nobody got time to wait for super thick oils like Cedarwood, Myrrh, and Vetiver to drop into the diffuser. And it takes too long to heat up the bottles in your armpit. Get some dropper tops from Amazon and they will make your life a little bit easier

(Photo cred: not my photo. Not sure who took it.)

Tips and Tricks with Essential Oils!! Banish Paint Fumes

Hate the smell of paint fumes? I sure do. Add about 10-15 drops of Purification to each gallon and no one will know you recently painted! My skeptical bestie had her nose nearly touching our wall and couldn't smell it! I've heard of people adding Joy, Hope, or Abundance oils to their paint cans. If you try another blend, let me know how you like it

Tips and Tricks with Essential Oils!! Thieves Scrub

Most people don't know that studies found toxic fumes from Comet and Ajax in homes days after use? I know!!! And since most people don't open all the windows in their house every day, those toxins accumulate in the air... and in lungs, causing all kinds of issues. *cough* *hack*

Since I found that out, I've been making Thieves Scrub. It's easy-peasy and works on tubs, stoves (amazing on glass top), counters, sinks, grout... Smells good, too!

Store in jars under all your sinks.

It will get frothy when you mix the baking soda, THHC, and vinegar.

Add a few drops of water at a time until you like the consistency.

Let the Thieves Scrub sit for 10 minutes on tough things like burned food.

Disclaimer: as with any cleaner, spot check first. OK, I never spot check, but I'm supposed to say that. Let me know when you try this. I love hearing the ways people use it!
